Snowboard Boot Size Calculator

Convert between Mondopoint, US, EU and UK. Find your perfect fit.

This calculator converts between ALL four sizing systems (Mondopoint cm, US, EU, UK) and tells you what your boot size means for board width. Most size charts miss the board width connection, but wrong boot size causes toe drag that ruins your riding.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Snowboard boots should fit snug. Toes lightly touch front when standing, pull back when you flex forward. If toes do not touch at all, the boot is too big.

For reference only. Boot fit varies by brand. Always try boots on with the socks you will actually ride in, and walk around the shop for 10 minutes before deciding.

How to Measure Your Foot for Snowboard Boots

Stand on a piece of paper, mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe, and measure the distance in centimeters. That number is your Mondopoint size. Measure BOTH feet (most people have one foot slightly larger). Use the LARGER measurement. Measure in the afternoon (feet swell during the day). Wear the socks you will snowboard in (thin snowboard socks, NOT thick ski socks). Add 0 cm to the measurement. Mondopoint IS your foot length. Do not add space. Snowboard boots are designed to fit without extra room.

How Snowboard Boots Should Fit

A properly fitted snowboard boot feels snug everywhere with toes lightly touching the front when standing upright, and pulling back 2 to 3 mm when you flex forward into riding position. Standing straight: toes touch the front of the liner (not painfully). Flex forward (riding position): toes pull back slightly, no pressure. Heel: zero lift when flexing (heel stays planted). Sides: snug without pressure points. After 2 to 3 days of riding: liner packs out 5 to 10%, boot feels slightly roomier. Never size up for comfort. A boot that feels roomy in the shop will be sloppy on snow.

Wide Feet: What to Do (Do Not Size Up)

If you have wide feet, do NOT buy a larger boot. Buy a wide-fit model at your correct Mondopoint length. Sizing up for width creates heel lift (heel moves up and down inside the boot), loss of control, and cold toes (excess space means poor insulation). Wide-fit models: Burton (Wide range in most models), ThirtyTwo (TM-2W Wide), Ride (generous fit). Heat-moldable liners (Intuition) can accommodate wider feet in standard-width shells. A boot fitter can punch out pressure points for 20 to 40 USD.

Snowboard Boots vs Ski Boots: Sizing Differences

Snowboard and ski boots both use Mondopoint sizing, but snowboard boots fit more like shoes while ski boots fit extremely tight. Ski boots: hard plastic shell, very tight fit, minimal liner pack-out. Snowboard boots: soft construction, more liner pack-out (5 to 10%), closer to shoe fit but still snug. Your snowboard Mondopoint should match your ski boot Mondopoint. If you wear US 10 ski boots, you need US 10 snowboard boots. Do not size differently between the two.

When to Replace Snowboard Boots

Replace snowboard boots after 100 to 150 days of riding or when the liner is packed out and your heel lifts during turns. Signs of worn boots: heel lift when flexing forward, boot feels loose even when laced tight, liner is compressed and thin at heel and ankle, outer sole is worn smooth. Liner replacement (50 to 150 USD) extends boot life by 50 to 80 days. Full boot replacement: every 2 to 4 seasons for regular riders, every 4 to 6 for occasional riders.

Frequently asked questions

What size snowboard boots for US 10?

Mondopoint 28.0 cm, EU 44, UK 9.5. US 10 boots need a mid-wide to wide snowboard (25.5 to 26.0 cm waist width minimum) to prevent toe drag. Measure your foot in cm to verify: if your foot is 27.5 cm, you may actually need US 9.5.

How should snowboard boots fit?

Snug everywhere. Toes lightly touch the front when standing, pull back slightly when flexing forward. Zero heel lift. After 2 to 3 days of riding, the liner packs out and the boot relaxes slightly. If boots feel comfortable in the shop, they will be too loose on snow. Snug in the shop equals perfect on snow.

Should I size up snowboard boots for thick socks?

No. Wear thin snowboard-specific socks (not thick ski socks). Thick socks reduce circulation, making feet colder, and create extra bulk that reduces boot response. One pair of thin merino snowboard socks (Smartwool, Stance) is warmer than two thick cotton socks. Buy boots that fit with the socks you will actually ride in.

What is Mondopoint sizing?

Mondopoint is your foot length in centimeters. A 27.5 cm foot equals Mondopoint 27.5. It is the most accurate sizing system because it measures the actual foot, not a brand-specific interpretation. Printed inside the tongue or on the sole of most snowboard boots. To find yours: measure heel to longest toe on paper in cm.

Do snowboard boots stretch?

Yes, the liner packs out 5 to 10% over the first 2 to 3 days of riding. The shell does not stretch. This is why boots should feel snug when new. If they feel comfortable or roomy when new, they will be too loose after break-in. Heat-moldable liners (Intuition, Remind) speed up the break-in and provide a more custom fit.
