Frequently asked questions
What SUP calculators are available on dincalculator.com?
Three. A SUP board size calculator (volume, length and width by weight and style), a SUP paddle length calculator (by height and discipline), and an iSUP inflation pressure guide (correct PSI for board type, weight and temperature).
How do I choose the right stand up paddleboard size?
Board volume should be at least your body weight in litres. Beginners typically need 1.4 to 2.0 times their body weight in litres for stability. Board length and width depend on your paddling style: all-around boards suit most beginners, touring boards are longer for flatwater distance, and surf SUPs are shorter and more manoeuvrable.
What PSI should I inflate my iSUP to?
Most 6-inch performance iSUPs work best at 14 to 16 PSI. Standard 4-inch boards work well at 12 to 14 PSI. Always check your board's label for the manufacturer's maximum rating, which is the figure that actually governs. On hot days, inflate 1 to 2 PSI below maximum, because air pressure rises as the board warms in direct sun.
How long should my SUP paddle be?
The classic method: stand the paddle upright and raise one arm straight up, and the handle should reach your raised wrist. In practice, add 20 to 25 cm to your height for all-around and touring paddling, 15 cm for surf, and 30 cm for racing. Adjustable paddles let you fine-tune length between disciplines.
Are these SUP calculators free?
