Snowboard Binding Size Calculator

Match your bindings to your boot size and board width.

This calculator shows binding sizes across 6 major brands side by side. Burton, Union, Flux, NOW, Jones and Ride all use slightly different size ranges. A "Medium" in Burton is not the same as a "Medium" in Union. Enter your boot size once, see the correct size for every brand.

💡 Tip: When between sizes, smaller equals more responsive. Larger equals more support and toe strap range.
⚠️ Board width: With boots this size, make sure your board is wide enough (mid-wide or wide). Bindings will fit any board width, but your boots may cause toe or heel drag on a standard-width board.

For reference only. Sizing varies by binding model within each brand. Always check the specific model's size chart before buying.

Burton EST vs Universal Disc Mount

Burton EST bindings only fit Burton Channel boards. All other brands use the universal 4x4 or 2x4 disc mount that fits any non-Burton board. Burton uses two systems: EST (only for Burton boards with The Channel) and Re:Flex (fits both Burton and universal boards). If you do not have a Burton board, do NOT buy EST bindings. Re:Flex and all other brands (Union, Flux, NOW, Jones, Ride) use the universal disc mount. Universal bindings come with a disc that fits 4x4 and 2x4 insert patterns.

How Bindings Should Fit Your Boots

The boot should sit centered on the binding baseplate with the highback touching the back of the boot and the toe strap wrapping the toe box, not the top of the foot. Heel: boot sits against the highback with zero gap. Toe strap: wraps OVER the toe, not the top of the foot (over-the-top causes pressure points). Baseplate: boot centered, no more than 1 cm overhang on either side. If the boot overhangs significantly, go one size up. If the boot swims inside, go one size down. Ratchet straps should close to about 70% of their range.

Binding Flex: Match to Boot and Board

Soft bindings (flex 1 to 3) for freestyle and beginners. Medium (flex 4 to 6) for all-mountain. Stiff (flex 7 to 10) for freeride and carving. Binding flex should roughly match boot flex and board flex. Soft boot plus stiff binding equals uncomfortable and unresponsive. Stiff boot plus soft binding equals lack of support. All three (boot, binding, board) should be in the same flex range. Freestyle: all soft. All-mountain: all medium. Freeride: all medium-stiff.

When to Replace Snowboard Bindings

Replace bindings after 150 to 200 days or when ratchets slip, straps crack, or the highback develops visible stress fractures. Signs: ratchets no longer hold under force, strap buckles crack or bend, baseplate flexes unevenly, highback shows white stress marks. Baseplates rarely break but straps and ratchets wear out. Most brands sell replacement straps and ratchets (10 to 30 USD) to extend binding life.

Frequently asked questions

What size snowboard bindings for US 10 boots?

Large in most brands (Union, Flux, NOW, Ride). Medium or Medium/Large in Burton and Jones. US 10 (Mondopoint 28 cm) falls at the overlap between M and L in some brands. When between sizes for all-mountain riding, choose the smaller size for better response.

Do snowboard bindings fit all boards?

All bindings with universal disc mount (Union, Flux, NOW, Jones, Ride, Burton Re:Flex) fit any board with 4x4 or 2x4 inserts. Burton EST bindings ONLY fit Burton Channel boards. If you have a non-Burton board, do not buy EST bindings.

Should I size up or down in snowboard bindings?

Size down (smaller) for freestyle and more responsive feel. Size up (larger) if your toes extend past the footbed or if you struggle to close the toe strap. The binding should hold your boot firmly with the heel against the highback and zero play. When in doubt, go smaller.

Can I use any brand bindings with any board?

Yes, as long as the bindings have a universal disc mount (all brands except Burton EST). The binding disc adapter fits both 4x4 and 2x4 insert patterns found on 99% of non-Burton boards. Burton Re:Flex bindings also work on universal boards. Only Burton EST is proprietary.
